Are you overwhelmed with your to-do list each day? Do you feel like you're not making progress or maybe not gaining traction on things that are most important in your business?
Well, I have a tool that will help you and it’s a free download on our website. It's called the Daily Blueprint and it's a proven, research-based tool that will help you improve your productivity every day. The Daily Blueprint will help improve a couple of other things, too, like mindset and your success habits.
The Daily Blueprint guide provides step-by-step instructions for using the Daily Blueprint tool. This explains what you can learn from using the daily blueprint proven keys to success that when practiced daily can crush your business goals, clarity on what you should be working through each day away to prioritize the ways that you work.
So before we get started, let's go ahead and talk about the elephant in the room. This is a paper-based planner. Yes, I like to have things in front of me throughout the day that reminds me of what I need to get done that day. Having a paper-based to-do list helps keep me focused. Alternatively, you may choose to use the fillable PDF and either print it out or refer to it on your computer.
I recommend that you prepare your Daily Blueprint each morning as you start your day. We have a blog post and checklist available on our website for morning routines.
I like to have a quote in front of me each day, especially one that fits what we’re working on or is pertinent to a challenge or a season that we're in. I find that a quote can be really motivational. I don’t change my quote up every day. Sometimes I use the same quote for a few days in a row or a week at a time. I try to make it topical to what I'm going through that week, so if I'm feeling a lot of fear and trepidation or like I need a dose of courage, I'm going to select a quote that reminds me to be courageous.
The second part of the Daily Blueprint that I fill out is the section on gratitude. You may not yet be in the habit of practicing gratitude. If you’re not, journaling at least 3 things each day that you are grateful for has been shown to increase your optimism and make you more aware of positive events in your life.
As an entrepreneur, we may be challenged each day to find positivity in the very difficult work that we are doing each day. Journaling about what you are grateful for each day can be the one ray of sunshine that we have that lifts us up.
The next step in the Daily Blueprint is to generate our to-do list for the day. First, we do a brain dump and be sure to carry over tasks from the prior day that we did not complete. After we have a good list for the day, we can prioritize the items using a 1,2,3 system or an A, B, C system.
Once you prioritize your to-do tasks, your top priorities for the day will become obvious and then you can note your top three priorities for the day in the top right section of the Daily Blueprint. A note about your top priorities: you will want to schedule time in your day when you are at your best and most productive to knock these most important tasks out. For most, that is at the beginning of the day. You usually don’t want to let your most important tasks go until the end of the day when your energy is waning or when you may run out of time to finish these tasks.
The next thing I do is plan my schedule for the day, first by putting all of the meetings and family commitments in the schedule. Once you do that you can see the available time that you have in the day and you can time-block the necessary time to work on your top priorities and other tasks of the day.
The habit tracker is at the bottom of the Daily Blueprint. This is an area where you can track important habits for your physical and emotional health, whether that is daily movement, meditation, drinking enough water, or making sure you take a break for lunch. Select habits that fuel you and help you be a better business leader.
The last section of the Daily Blueprint is a section where you can make notes but, even more importantly, you can track your accomplishments throughout the day.
One of the best things that we can do for our entrepreneurial mindset is to celebrate our wins. Everything we do throughout the day can be a win. So go ahead and take note at the bottom of all the things that you accomplished throughout the day and then celebrate that at the end of the day.
I hope that you will give the Daily Blueprint a try and let me know what you think about it.
